Today, we met with the women's group to begin our project - this group needs help with accounting/treasurer's work and facilitating a meeting. I'll have pictures of the group and their activities hopefully next week.
Tomorrow, we ride the bus to Belmopan - the bus picks up at 6 am and travels to San Ignacio where we transfer to another bus to Belmopan where we'll arrive just before 8 am to start our classes. We have to take the bus back to San Antonio which means we won't get back until 7 pm. The host family is required to pack us a lunch so it'll be interesting to see what I'll have to eat.
As a side bar, yesterday, Sunday, I walked with the family to their farm outside of the village - the father works 24 acres alone without much help except from the wife. The sons help out when they can. It was a beautiful venture into the various fields of crops ranging from plantains, peanuts, sweet potatoes, carrots, etc. Don Ramon received an order for 1400 pounds of corn in the morning so the family all pitched in to pick and sack 14/100 pounds bags. Needless to say, watching them made me realize how hard they work. I was hot and sweaty and bearly made it back to my electric fan to cool down. This is where I finally appreciate all the people who bring the food to our stores and to the table, such overwhelming feeling of gratitude.
Wow Sandy!! Belize really agrees with you. You look great.
