Our Peace Corps Training Center

Just a quick glimpse to the place we held our training in San Antonio. Every day, I walked up this rough road from the house to reach the main street, then walked up the hill to the Al cadre's new house.

Since it's still under construction the place was empty. We originally was set to use the community center but the village just began a new pre-school program at that location, the Al cadre (Village Chairman) offered his place which turned out to be a much better setting than a hot enclosed room.

Our training site was open, light, and airy, especially with our fan. We had Spanish classes and technical training dealing with development, non-formal techniques to work with
groups, and community communication.
The Spanish continues to be a challenge for me since I was expecting
to learn Creole. Yup, we did an exercise on what we can do to help the community in our future site, and here I am as the Super Mentor...pretty funny!
