Saint Herman Cave

Okay, guys, here is my pic with my mosquito net hat - when I got this from the SFSO gang, I thought it was such a great joke and the likelihood that I would actually wear was slim. Well...the guide highly recommended lots of bug spray and covered clothing - I just whipped out my hat and I was the envy of the group!

The hiking path through the jungle was rough and, yes, full of mosquitos. The cave itself was dank, dark, and very boulder ridden. As I was the oldest one in the group and after all a city slicker, it was tough for me to manage the rocks. Fortunately, our Peace Corps driver, Anthony, was compassionate and took my hand and guided me through the cave. He's my friend for life! At the end of the cave, we saw tucked away remnants of ancient pottery undisturbed for thousands of years. We continued on our sightseeing trip to the Blue Hole where some of the group took a refreshing dip. This one was the smaller one of the two in Belize - hopefully, I'll get to the Blue Hole on the coast before I leave here.

  1. Sandy - SFSO is celebrating Lily's 25th anniversary and your "hat picture" is on Carrie's computer for everyone to see. We miss you!
